repertoire englishNever would I endeavour to write - and obey - a list of works: I can write about my general interests, and hope those thoughts may trigger some new ideas for a new repertoire:Ludwig van Beethoven & Franz Schubert I love Schubert - but Beethoven I know how to play. Arnold Schönberg and the Viennese school My first encounter with "modern" music: The phantasy op.47 was my music! Since those early student days I have favoured Arnold Schönberg and his circle, with memorable concerts, be it with Alban Bergs Kammerkonzert or with the string trios by Schönberg, Weberns, or even the Trio by Goffredo Petrassi. It influenced my thinking of music fundamentally. Robert Schumann The 3 sonatas, The Fantasie op.131 as well as his violin concertos (op post. but also the one originally for Violoncello op 129, of which I gave the Swiss first performance) are constantly returning within my programms, especially those with eminent pianist Suguru Ito: Many unforgettable moments we were allowed to live with those works! Bernd Alois Zimmermann I am so lucky as to have performed all works for violin by Zimmermann. I consider him one of the Great composers of the last century, his music is near to me, even in his rather disagreable piano trio "présence" and of course in his lovely solo sonata and the terrific violin concerto. Paul Hindemith & Eugène Ysaÿe One of my favourite activities: Practice the fiddle! Besides the great cycles of etudes by Paganini and Ernst I have been studying for years those eclectic works by Paul Hindemith (Übungen für Geiger 1924) and Eugène Ysaÿes (préludes op post 1927). Finally, I have recorded them along with Hindemiths Sonata op 11/6 and the 6th sonata by Ysaÿe - watch out for its publication in Fall 2011. followed by: still practicing the fiddle - Even after Hindemith and Ysaÿe there are things I (unfortunately) still cannot do: The next CD-project is waiting, with the polyphonic Etudes by Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst and John Cages's Freeman Etudes it shouldn't leave me bored. I love Music, be it old or new.
